본 논문은 바울이 제시하는 가난의 모티브로 고린도전서를 읽어냄으로써 고린도교회의 일치에 대한 성서적 해법을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 바울은 고린도전서 11장에서 고린도교회의 정황에서 가난한 자들과 부유한 자들이 서로 분리되어 교회의 참된 일치를 이루지 못하고 있는 모습을 기록하고 있다. 바울에 따르면, 이러한 모습은 그리스도의 몸인 교회의 일치를 크게 훼손하는 것으로 복음의 진정성을 올곧게 드러내지 못하는 모순임에 틀림없다. 이에 대하여 바울은 이 문제에 대한 분명한 해법을 찾아내는데, 하나의 몸으로서의 교회는 분열되거나 갈라설 수 없다는 수사학적인 설득의 내용을 예수의 성만찬 제정의 말씀을 통해서 실제적인 조언으로 제시한다. 이러한 성만찬 이야기를 통한 바울의 해법 제시는 흐트러진 교회의 분열된 현실에 대하여 ‘온전히 합하라’는 바울의 권고(1:10)를 시작으로 고린도전서의 전체 내러티브에서 총체적으로 작용하고 있다. 이러한 바울의 조언은 만민을 향해 개방된 식탁교제의 자리에서 선포된 예수의 하나님나라 사상의 맥락과 일치한다. 고린도교회를 향한 바울의 이러한 대안 제시는 현재 한국개신교회의 위상을 재고하는 데 일조할 것이다
In this article, the author has read the latter part of 1 Corinthians 11 concerning to Paul's advice on the unity of the Corinthian congregation. The goal of its reading is to figure out a solution of the Corinthian Church's discord by the motif of dissension. During Paul’s ministry in Asia Minor and especially the city of Corinth, he tried to organize a text-oriented Christian community. From this point of view, the discordant portrait of Corinthian Church is only to reflect their inappropriate application of Jesus' teaching on the unity of Lord’s body. Following Jesus’ lesson on the unity of church, Paul sternly criticizes that the Corinthian Church is divided into a part of poor congregation and another part of wealthy congregation. According to narrative reading, it is not a theological aside, but a genuine purpose of Paul’s exhortation for the Corinthian congregation streamed from 1 Cor. 1:10. For the building of church as the body of the Lord, the Corinthian Church has to submit to the lesson of Jesus. As Jesus strikes at the root of one of the most prevalent models of friendship in antiquity, patron-client relationship, so does Paul challenge his congregation to be God’s people, who refuse the coercive, control-dominated system of relationships characteristic of the wider world but instead willingly accept the poor congregation in the table fellowship.
