This work is an attempt to find out the true identity of the church by the new interpretation of the vision of the seven messages to the seven churches (2:1-3:22) in the Apocalypse of John in the relation to the media of the Roman Empire, which propagates the imperial myths. Jesus urged each of the churches to repent and to be a counter-media being opposed to the dominant Roman media. The primary struggle, in which the seven churches were urged to participate, was faithfully resisting the assimilation into the dominant Roman imperial ethos. The works of the church consist of love, faith, service, and resistance. The true identity of the church can be found in the praxis of these four factors in the life of the church. Therefore, I reinforce that Christian church today should come out of global capital and empire and aim at building an alternative community of justice and peace.
