The purpose of this thesis is to study and figure out methods for the electronic transmission of transport documents for international trade settlement through advanced research and case study. For this aim, in legal, institutional and technical aspects, this study analyzed the obstacles for international trade settlement and investigated that the infrastructural disparity between advanced countries and developing countries due to the IT gap and the problem of standardization of e-documents can be a barrier for electronic transmission of documents and reviewed the resolutions to overcome such technical challenges and to utilize the non-standard documents used by traders in many countries as standard documents for the international trade settlement. As a result, this study reviewed a model that could be used for international trade settlement through Swift FileAct Service as converting paper documents into image files(PDF). Hopefully, international trade settlement will be vitalized through electronic transmission of e-documents as suggested by this study.
