본고에서는 훈민정음 창제로부터 16세기 중반에 이르기까지 여성들의 국문 글쓰기에 대한 단서를 얻기 위해 조선왕조실록의 ‘諺文’ 관련 기사들을 검토정리하였다. 특별히 이 시기에 주목한 것은 여성의 국문 글쓰기 양상을 해명해 주는 最古의 현전 자료가 昭惠王后의 내훈을 제외하고는 모두 16세기 후반에 집중되어 있는 까닭이다. 왕조실록 검토라는 문헌 고찰 방법을 택한 것은 현전 자료만을 대상으로 하는 연구의 한계를 조금이라도 극복해 보기 위함이었다. 이로써 15세기 후반과 16세기 중반에 왕후들의 국문 사용에 관한 새로운 정보들을 얻을 수 있었다. 성종 때 수렴청정을 한 바 있는 貞熹王后가 撤簾의 의사를 ‘諺文一紙’로 밝힌 것이 1476년의 일이었다. 폐비 윤씨와 관련하여 중대한 사안이 결정될 때마다 貞熹昭惠安順王后가 내린 懿旨 역시 국문으로 된 것이었다. 昭惠王后는 유교적 관료들에 맞서 불교를 옹호하는 慈旨를 국문으로 수 차례 내려서 물의를 빚기도 했다. 1545년에 仁聖王后는 인종의 遺敎와 行錄을 국문으로 지어 大行王의 行狀修撰에 기여하였다. 한글창제 이후 약 1세기 동안 여성의 국문 사용에 관한 정보가 거의 전무한 상황에서, 실록이 입증하는 왕후들의 국문 글쓰기 사례는 조선전기 여성문학사의 빈 공간을 메우는 데 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

As women's Korean writing in the early of Chosŏn Dynasty, nothing has been known except of Naehun, a women's conduct book written by Queen So-hye(昭惠王后). Scarcity of materials and historical records is one of big problems in studies of women's literary history, especially of the Middle Ages. Therefore, to make the best use of the remained records is more important in this field. The True Record of the Chosŏn Dynasty(朝鮮王朝實錄) is one of important sources for women's study. I've tried to find historical records about women's literary history in it and this monography is a report of the result. Several examples of Queen's writing are found In The True Record of the Chosŏn Dynasty, which are Queen's formal proclamations and essays about dead king's honorable conduct or character. The writers are Queen Jeong-hui(貞熹王后, 1418 ～1483), Queen So-hye(昭惠王后, 1437～1504), Queen In-seong(仁聖王后, 1514～1577), and etc. These examples are evaluated very few and important in the early history of women's writing in Hangeul.
