The term ‘myth(神話)’ was introduced to the East Asia from late 19th century to early 20th century. Mythology discourse in the modern Korea was established by disputation between Japanese scholars and Korean especially Choi Namsun. Under the rule of Japanese imperialism, some Japanese historians insisted that Dangun has no relation with Kochoson. Some Korean historians had refuted their conjecture. The refutation between Japanese and Korean historians bring about the motive of the formation of the concept of Shinwa(신화). The purpose of this study to research the formartion of Shinwa in Korea by analysing ‘Dangun’ discourse by Japanese historians and Korean who worked from late 19th century to early 20th century. The western term ‘myth’was reconstructed in Japanese historical context. Since we call the story of Dangun ‘Dangun Shinhwa(단군신화)’, there has been some the point at issues. For example “Dangun is mythical hero? or historical ruler?” They resulted from the term ‘myth’ from the west by way of Japan
