이 논문은 기독교 윤리적 관점에서 신자유주의에 대한 새로운 경제체계의 대안으로제시되고 있는 협동조합을 고찰하고자 한다. 협동조합이 지닌 강점과 협동조합 자체가안고 있는 취약점들을 분석하면서 협동조합의 새로운 가능성을 모색하고자 한다. 협동조합은 무한경쟁과 승자독식의 대기업 위주로 돌아가는 시장경제체계 속에서상생과 공존의 가치를 추구한다. 또한 협동조합은 빈부격차를 효과적으로 해소하는 방안이며, 경제 민주화를 실현하는 효과적인 도구이자, 상생의 경영과 보편적 복지를 실현하는 측면에서 신자유주의와 금융 자본주의의 폐해를 극복하는 효과적인 대안이 되고있다. 협동조합은 코이노니아를 실현하기 위하여 기독교적인 세계관에서 태동되었다. 협동조합의 장점은 좀 더 정의로운 세계를 향한 점진적인 변화의 기회를 제공한다. 협동조합은 신뢰를 기반으로 신용을 창출하고 많은 일자리와 사회적 자본을 창출해왔다. 협동조합은 정치 경제적 약자가 상호협동과 단결로 경제적 지위 향상과 정치적 자주성을 획득해 가는 데 도움을 준다. 협동조합의 가치는 ‘협동’과 ‘인간존중’에 있다. 협동조합은 인간보다는 돈이 우선이된 사회에서 인간을 중시하고, 인간중심의 경제와 사회생활을 이룬다. 협동조합은 자본보다는 사람을, 경쟁보다 협동을, 이윤보다 공동선을 중시하는 자유로운 사람들의결사체이다. 협동조합 운동은 기독교 정신을 바탕으로 하여 전개되었으며 협동조합은자본주의 체제에 대한 바람직한 대안으로서 공동선과 사회적 연대를 추구하면서 사회적경제 정의를 지향하고 있다. 따라서 공동체 자본주의에 기초한 협동조합 운동에 교회가 참여하는 것은 매우 의미심장한 일이다. 협동조합운동은 교회의 대사회적 역할과 특징을 보여주는 공동선의원리, 보조성의 원리, 참여, 연대성의 원리를 한다는 점에서 청교도 윤리에서 유래한근대 자본주의 정신을 되찾는 길이기도 하다.
I want to survey the cooperatives proposed as an alternative new economic system in regard to Christian ethics. While analyzing and comparing the advantages and weaknesses of a Christian cooperative association, I expect to find the possibility of and an ideal cooperative association model. The cooperative is the best alternative for a Neo-liberal economic system. It can solve the inequality between the rich and poor, and be used to realize economic democratization. It pursues the value of coexistence and co-prosperity. The cooperative began to realize koinonia from the perspective of the Christian world-view. The advantage of a Christian cooperative is that it can change the world by making it more righteous gradually. The cooperatives have created many jobs and increased social capital. Therefore, they are a course to obtain economic improvement and political independence through mutual cooperation and unification. The cooperative’s core values are cooperation and respect for humans. The cooperative is the community taking into account the human before money, cooperation more than competition, and common good instead of profit. The cooperative movement develops based on the spirit of Christianity. It pursues social economic justice by the principles of common good and social solidarity. Therefore, it is very meaningful for the churches to participate in the cooperative movement in pursuit of common prosperity. It can also restore the original root of modern capitalism which originated from the puritan ethics.
