재기(齋記)는 개인의 생활 공간에 이름을 부여하고 그 의미를 설명하는 한문의 한 장르다. 건물의 축조 과정을 밝히는 일반적인 기문(記文)이 객관적 사실 기록을 중심으로 하는 것과는 달리, 개인 공간을 소재로 한 재기(齋記)는 작가의 주관적 견해를 뚜렷이 드러낸다는 특징이 있다. 재기(齋記)의 글쓰기는 개인 공간에 적극적으로 의미을 부여함으로써 작가의 신념을 강하게 표명하는 글쓰기다. 특히 유배지에서 쓴 재기(齋記)의 경우, 세상의 기준과는 상관없이 자기 가치관을 추구해 나갈 공간으로서 개인 공간에 의미를 부여하는 양상이 잘 나타난다. 또한 재기(齋記)의 글쓰기는 과거를 반성하고 미래를 설계하는 반성적 글쓰기이기도 했다. 특히 경전에서 집이나 방의 이름을 따오는 경우, 자기 반성적 맥락에서 경전의 의미를 새롭게 해석하는 글쓰기 방식을 발견할 수 있다. 이 경우 집이나 방은 새로운 미래의 공간으로서 긍정적 의미를 띠었다. 마지막으로 재기(齋記)의 글쓰기는 당호(堂號)에 의탁한 우회적 소통의 글쓰기이기도 했다. 지인의 부탁을 받아 써 주는 재기(齋記)의 경우 이러한 성격이 두드러졌다. 한편 재기(齋記)를 받은 사람은 이를 편액으로 걸어 두고, 글에 숨어 있는 우회적 의미를 반복 음미할 수 있었다. 이상 재기(齋記)의 글쓰기는 문학 생활화를 촉진한다는 점에서 교육적 의미가 있다. 또한 생활 글쓰기 교육에서 의미 생성의 다양한 전략을 학습자에게 제공해 주며, 학습자로 하여금 기능 중심 글쓰기를 넘어서 글쓰기의 새로운 가치를 발견하도록 이끄는 계기가 될 수 있다.
Jaegi(齋記) is a kind of classic writing style, in which the writer gives name to his own room and explains why he does so. Generally, in Gi(記) of a building the writer concentrates on facts about construction process of the building. But in Jaegi(齋記), because main topic is a person's private room, the writer expresses his own thought very obviously. In Jaegi, the writer declares his creed clearly by emphasizing the meaning of his own space. Especially when Jaegi is written in a place of exile, the writer's room is a space only for his creed contesting to the world. Also, the writer of Jaegi is inclined to self-reflection. Especially When he names his room after a phrase of scriptures, the writer can interpretate its meaning by reflecting his past faults. By reflecting his own past, the writer could prospect future hopefully. In this case, writer's room contains prospect for future. For last, in Jaegi people can communicate in a roundabout way by allegorical meaning of room names. Especially when Jaegi is written for a friend, the writer could sympathize of criticize him mediately. Then the receiver would hang Jaegi in his room for repetitive reading. So, educatiion of Jaegi-writing should focus on teaching such strategies as forsaid. And also, students should know that Jaegi-writing is a recognizing method of self and world.
