The Folkloric Research of Mandeok-San Sanje-Dang

만덕산은 원불교에서 초선지로 인류 정신개벽 발원지의 의미를 가진다. 그 의의를 살피기 위해서는 소위 만덕암 즉 만덕산 산제당의 실체를 자세히 살필 필요가 있다. 그 과정에서 필자는 산제당의 성립과정과 그 기능과 역할, 그리고 소태산 방문 당시의 일화들을 민속학적 관점과 연구방법에 따라 분석하였다. 산제당은 중길리 마을의 당산과는 거리가 있는 것으로 특별한 목적을 가진 신당의 기능을 가진 것으로 분석이 되었다. 이곳에는 좌포리 당골 무당이 주관하고 있던 것으로 일종의 기도터 혹은 굿당의 역할을 하였던 곳이다. 정산과 소태산의 인연을 시작한 최도화도 이곳에 산신각을 짓게 되는데, 이들의 성립 과정이 좌포리 김승지네 가문과 긴밀한 관련을 가진다. 이 과정을 추적하여 그 정확한 성립과 기능을 살폈다. 이를 위해서는 민간신앙인 기자치성을 살피지 않을 수 없었고, 그 연장선상에서 산제당이 이루어졌음을 밝혔다. 결과적으로 볼 때 만덕산의 산제당과 초선지의 의미는 이미 소태산의 회상창립 계획에 포함되어 있었던 사필 귀정의 수순에 의해서 되었다는 점이 추정된다고 보았다. 그리고 그 기반을 한국 전통의 문화적 기반 위에 세우게 되었다는 점을 부각시켰다.

Sanje-Dang and Tanggol, Sansin-kak, Choe Dohwa, Mandeok-Am and Won-Buddhism have each mutual correlation. It is a purpose of this paper to analyze the relationship of those historically and folkorely Mandeok-San has the meaning of the creation source for the beginning of meditation in WonBulGyo. I have to consider so-called Mandeok-Am and substance of Mandeok-San Sanje-Dang in detail in order to search the meaning of them. The writer analyzed prosess, function and role of Sanje-Dang in early time and some episodes with the folklore viewpoint. Choe Dohwa built the Sansin-Gak namely a house of mountain spirits in the near to Sanje-Dang. This is related with family of Gim Seungji who lived in Jwapori. I explained the function as I chased this process. I had to explain Gija-Sinang for this. The results followed to built of the Sanje-Dang, and I lighted up it’s folkloric base. The meaning was possible on bases of cultural heritage. All and these processes were already fixed plans of Sotaesan.
