본 연구의 목적은 마음인문학의 개념과 범주를 정하고 탐구방법을제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 본 연구는 다음의 여섯 가지 영역에 걸쳐 마음인문학의 의미를 탐색하였다. 첫째, 마음연구의 이유를 생활,수련, 연구의 목적에 따라 나누어 논의하였다. 둘째, 동서양 철학사에서‘마음’과 유사하게 사용되는 용어들을 고찰하면서 마음개념을 파악하고자 하였다. 셋째,‘ 마음을 탐구한다는 것’의 의미를 생각, 느낌, 앎과 깨닫기, 의지와 판단, 도덕감과 윤리의식, 일반 및 심층심리, 마음과몸 혹은 마음과 행동에 관한 연구, 푸쉬케, 영성의 9가지 속성으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 넷째, 마음을 표층, 심층, 뿌리로 나누어 속성을 살핌으로써 마음의 다중구조와 역동성을 드러내고자하였다. 다섯째, 마음이몸과 함께 움직이는 7가지 틀을 제안하였다. 마지막으로 마음을 탐구하는 원칙으로 다음의 다섯 가지를 제안한다. ① 마음의 차원에 따라 계통과 순서를 정한다. ② 학제적(學際的:Trans disciplinary) 연구를 지향한다. ③ 영육쌍전(靈肉雙全)의 연구를 위해 기(氣)의 과학을 기초로 해야 한다. ④ 마음 연구는 수련, 수행과 동시에 수행해야 한다. ⑤ 마음연구는 복덕일치주의(福德一致主義:Rigor-eudaimohism)를 지향한다. 본 연구는 마음인문학 분야에서 마음의 범주와 연구방법을 밝힘으로써향후 연구의 이론적, 실천적 방향을 제안하였다는 것에 그 의의가 있다.
The aim of this study is to determine concepts and categories of Mind Humanities as a preliminary to suggesting several research approaches. To achieve this goal, the meaning of Mind Humanities was explored in the following six domains: First, the purpose of studying the “Mind”was discussed as life, practice and research focus. Second, the concept of“ mind”was explored by investigating several terms which are understood as“ mind”in eastern or western philosophical history. Third, the meanings of“ to explore the mind”were reviewed by looking at nine different attributes of the mind,such as thoughts, feelings, awareness and realization, will and determination,a sense of moral ethics, general and in-depth psychology, mind and body or mind and behavior research, psyche and spirituality. Fourth, the multistructure and dynamics of the mind were discussed by analyzing surface,deep, and root aspects respectively. Fifth, seven frameworks which allow the mind and body to mo9re together were suggested. In conclusion, five research principles for the Mind Humanities are suggested as follows: ① The system and order should be determined according to the dimension of mind. ② Mind Humanities should be oriented to inter-disciplinary research. ③Qi(氣) science should be a basis for wholeness of both spirit and flesh (靈肉雙全). ④ Mind study should simultaneously be performed with practice or performance. ⑤ Mind Humanities aims for ‘rigor-eudaimonism(福德一致主義)’This study hopes to make a contribution by suggesting theoretical and practical directions for Mind Humanities by reviewing categories and methods of mind from varoius perspectives.
