<영이록>은 손기와 그 주변 인물들이 갈등을 통해 동반 성장을 이루어 나가는 과정을 그린 작품이다. 손기, 소운성, 장난, 장현정은 성격과 처지의 차이로 인해 갈등을 빚지만, 결국 이러한 갈등을 통해 기존의 삶의 범주에서 벗어나고 각자의 잠재된 능력과 존재 가치를 새롭게 발견하게 된다. <영이록>의 개성은 여러 인물들이 긴밀히 상호작용하며 상보적 관계 속에서 자아를 실현해 나가는 이야기라는 점에서 찾을 수 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 <영이록>의 특성이, 자아실현에 대해 관심을 가지고 자신의 삶을 설계해 나가는 시기인 청소년기 독자들에게 특별한 가치를 지닐 수 있다고 보고 작품의 교육적 활용 방안을 논의하였다. 현대의 자아실현 담론이 개인 본위의 자기 기획과 관리에 초점을 맞추고 있는 것과는 달리, <영이록>의 자아실현 서사는 사회적 인간관계와 개인의 성장을 불가분의 관계로 다루며 양자의 밀접한 관계를 조망할 수 있게 해 준다. 개인의 자아실현은 타인과 갈등을 경험하고 극복하는 과정에서 이루어지게 마련이며, 서로 부족한 부분을 자극하고 보완해 주는 상보적 영향 관계 속에서 공동체 전체의 동반 성장이 이루어진다는 점을 <영이록>은 구체적으로 보여준다. 본고에서는 이러한 작품의 교육적 가치를 효과적으로 실현할 수 있는 학습활동과 그 적용 방안을 제시하였다.
The self-realization discourse is focused on individual achievement, restricting its own influential sphere nowadays. But to students in elementary and secondary schools, it is more important to have a perspective which focuses on self-realization in social relationship. The self-realization discourse stressing only individualism and neglecting problems of social relationship lacks in reality, and is not desirable for the relevant communities. In this context, Youngirock(靈異錄) is worth paying attention to because it depicts the close relationship between self-realization and social conflicts. Students can widen their perspective regarding self-realization by reading the text. self-realization discourse or Youngirock includes topological dimension of networks among characters as well as chronological dimension of each individual character. It implies that integral perspective towards life, that is, a perspective which comprehends achievement and relationship complementarily is to be restored. If students can think of the issue by reading Youngirock, it will be the best way to understand both originality and universal meaning of this text.
