이 논문의 목적은 인성교육에서의 아버지의 역할, 나아가 부모의 역할을 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 근대 이후 학교교육이 확대되면서 가정교육 특히 아버지의 교육적 역할이 축소되거나 유명무실해졌다. 당연한 결과로 아들은 가정에서 남성의 롤 모델을 찾지 못하고, 딸은 올바른 남성관을 갖기가 어려워졌다. 즉 가정에서 ‘부교(父敎)’가 자리를 잃고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 동아시아의 대표적 ‘부교’의 모습을 통하여 전통의 재해석을 시도해보고자 한다. 『논어』에는 아들을 교육하는 아버지 공자의 가르침을 ‘과정지훈(過庭之訓)’이라고 한다. 이후 ‘과정(過庭)’이라는 개념은 동아시아의 ‘부교론’의 토대가 되었다. 18세기 박종채는 아버지 박지원의 가르침을 『과정록(過庭錄)』이라고 엮었다. 이러한 부교의 집약체는 정약용에게서 찾아 볼 수 있다. 다산은 유배지에서 폐족(廢族)이 된 두 아들에게 편지와 『가계』를 통하여 ‘원격교육’을 실시하고 있다. 이러한 전통시대의 ‘부교’를 통하여, 현대의 부모의 역할을 돌아보게 된다. 부모는 자식에게 경제적 원조를 해주는 것도 중요하지만, 무엇보다 부모 자신의 인생관과 가치관을 상속시켜주는 일이 중요하지 않을까? 올해 한국에서는 인성교육이 법제화되어 시행되기 시작하였다. 하지만 아직도 인성교육의 목표 및 컨텐츠는 정비되지 않은 상태이다. 이 논문은 인성교육의 측면에서 부모의 자식교육을 살펴보았다. 과거의 동양적 전통교육은 우리가 상실하였던 많은 부분을 반성하게 하는 단서를 제공하여 준다. 이것이 현대에서 전통교육을 되돌아보는 이유가 될 것이다.
How today fathers teach character education to their kids and role of parents are explored in the essay in this collection. Now most parents, especially fathers don't have any roles in their home with the expansion of industrial society environment. Loosing father's power have dissociable impacts on their kids. Boys cannot find his role-model in their home and daughters have risk in finding right masculinity. Seeing of loosing father's power, classic references of East-asia help them in the exploration father's educational theories. The contributions are : Education of Confucius as father in 《The Analects of Confucius》 - learning poem and politeness; 《Kwajeongrok》過庭錄 is about Yunam's education theories, who is park jong chae's father and they are very famous Cho-sun dynasty scholars and Letters to two sons from Jung yak-yong(dasan) when he lived in a penal colony. Parents have to make an effort to be not just money maker but spiritual mentor for their kids. Father can support not financial assistance but also best concept of life and values. Using these theories from classic references provide chance to reflection about intellectual and moral loss with the modern world. This is reason for studying traditional ethics in East-asia.
