본 논문은 생태복지 관점에서 복지국가의 구조적 모순을 규명해보고자 하였다. 생태복지의 비판적 대상인 복지국가가 자본주의적 경제성장 논리에 묶여 있음을 주장하였으며, 복지국가가 경제성장과의 악순환적 고리로 인해 인간복지의 지속가능성에 역행하는 구조적 모순을 낳고 있다는 것을 소비와 불평등 차원에서 분석, 지속가능한 인간복지의 필수요소들을 도출하였다. 이를 통해 사회정책적 차원에서 생태복지의 함의를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 복지의 비경제적, 비물질적 개념의 필요성을 인식해야 한다. 둘째, 분배적 정의의 측면에서 실질적인 경제적 보장의 필요성을 인식해야 한다. 셋째, 지속가능한 인간복지의 필수요소는 사회정책과 직결되어 있음을 인식해야 한다는 것이다.
This article attempted to see the structural limitations of the welfare state from the viewpoint of ecowelfare. In this context, an analysis focus of it was the vicious relationships between the welfare state, economic growth and structured inequalities. Based on the findings of this analysis, suggestions for social policy are as follows: First, the necessity of a conception of the noneconomic, nonmaterialistic welfare should be recognized. Second, the necessity of the realistic economic security in the level of distributive justice should be recognized. Third and lastly, It should be recognized that the sustainability of human welfare and social policy are closely related.
