본 연구는 사회과 NIE에서 학습자의 자기주도적 학습 능력을 신장시키기 위한 방안으로 스토리텔링 기법의 수용을 제안하는데 목적을 두었다. 현재 교과에서 이루어지는 NIE수업은 교과서의 학습내용내지는 학습활동에 소개된 신문 자료 혹은 그와 유사한 내용을 담은 신문 자료를 활용하는 경우가 많다. 이로 인해 사회과 수업에서 학생들의 수업 흥미와 집중도가 낮아지는 요인으로 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 NIE 수업을 보다 생동감 있고 현장감 있게 진행하기 위한 방안의 하나로 스토리텔링 기법을 사회과에 수용하자는 당위성을 고찰해 보았다. 이어서 스토리텔링과 NIE의 상관성을 염두에 두고 스토리텔링을 활용한 신문 활용 수업을 설계하였다. 아울러 사회과 NIE에서 스토리텔링을 수용하면서 얻을 수 있는 시사점과 유의점을 제안하였다.
This paper aims at making a proposition of accepting storytelling method as a way to enhance learners' self-leading learning ability in the case of social studies instruction by Newspaper in Education(NIE). Subject instructions by NIE, in many cases, apply textbook-centered newspaper materials as it is. They are said to be the factors debasing students' interest and convergence in instruction. So, this thesis, as a way to make NIE instruction more lively,looked into a justification to accept storytelling. Storytelling is the conveying of events in words, images and sounds. Stories have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and in order to instill moral values. In the paper we try to use this storytelling concept in order to perform the creative social studies education class. In addition, bearing the co-relationship between storytelling and NIE, this thesis made a plan for NIE instruction by using of storytelling and made a proposition of suggestions and heeds attainable, accepting storytelling at social instruction NIE.
