The purpose of this study is to suggest alternatives for development of regional industrycomplex in adjacent to the port. Until now, most studies about regional industry complexhave been focused on it’s location, service separately. However, this paper stresses the needsof industry connectivity amongst trade structure with mainly trade parter countries. This pointis a contribution of this paper. In trying to address this, this paper attempts to analyzeliterature research and trade data of major ports and regional industry complex of Koreaadjoined the Yellow Sea. Recently, trade characteristic structure between Korea and China has changed. First, chinese processing trade has decreased. Second, competitiveness in the exportation of finalproduct of Korea has weakened. Third, due to the enhancement of China’s manufacturingcompetitiveness, Korea’s competitive products have changed accordingly. Fourth, complementary trade structure between both countries are changing. Fifth, the intra-industrytrade between both countries is increasing. Sixth, different form of FTA between Korea andChina is expected to proceed. However, it seems that the industrial correlation between port-hinterlands of these portsand industry complex of port regions are rather weak. Thus five strategic practices forimprovement of industrial complex are as follows. First, select and concentrate on industrieswhich match China’s trading nature. Second, attract foreign firms into industrial complex. Third, develop industrial complex in focus on R&D. Fourth, make convergent infrastructurelinking logistics and product. Fifth, develop high value-added product in industrial complex.
