본 논문은 병인박해 이후 프랑스에서 조선 교회 순교자들을 어떻게 기념하였는지를 파악하였다. 기념의 형태를 외적인 순교자 기념행사와 간행물을 통한 기념으로 구분하였다. 그리고 이러한 순교자 기념이 갖는 의의를 살펴보았다. 병인박해가 일어난 후 순교한 선교사들의 출신 교구에서 기념행사가 거행되었다. 그리고 출신 교구의 교구장이 사목 교서를 발표하였다. 이 중 베르뇌 주교와 다블뤼 주교 순교 기념행사 안에 기념 미사와 시가 행렬이 있다. 이는 도시 전체를 아우르는 대규모 행사였으며 침울한 분위기가 아닌 승리와 기쁨의 분위기였다. 또한 교구장 사목교서들은 교구 출신 순교자들이 교구의 영광이 되었음을 강조하면서 차후에 있을 시복시성을 위한 교회법적인 유의도 같이 당부하고 있다. 간행물을 통한 기념은 순교자 전기와 선교잡지의 보도라는 두 가지 형태로 이루어졌다. 순교자 전기의 작가들은 선교사들이 보낸 편지와 각종 증언 자료들을 참조하였다. 이 전기들은 순교자의 유가족과 지인들을 염두에 두었으며 그들의 동의를 얻어 간행했다는 특징을 가지며 주로 해당 순교자의 이야기에 집중하였다. 한편『전교회연보 Annale de la Propagation de la Foi』와『가톨릭선교 Les Missions Catholiques』등의 선교잡지들은 선교사들의 편지를 소개하면서 순교자 이야기를 서술하였다. 이 잡지들은 순교자들에 대한 이야기를 프랑스 교회 신자들에게 생생하게 전해 준 보도 자료이기에 사료적 가치가 충분하다. 그리고 이 기사들은 프랑스 선교사들뿐만 아니라 조선인 신자 순교자들에 대해서도 상세히 기술하였다. 이러한 순교자 기념은 다음과 같은 의도를 가지고 있다. 우선 순교한 선교사들의 유가족들과 지인들을 위로하는 장을 마련하였다. 그리고 프랑스 교회 내부의 재복음화와 외방 선교를 병행하는 계기를 마련하고자 하는 의도가 있었다. 또한 순교자 전기나 선교 잡지 보도라는 기록물을 통해 순교자들의 행적과 영성을 후대에 전하고자 하였다. 마지막으로 시복시성을 염두에 두었다.
This thesis study how commemorated Korean church martyrs after 1866's Persecution(Byongin Bakhae) in France. Memorial modes have been sorted martyr celebration and memory by publication. And the significance has been inspected. After 1866's Persecution, celebrations have been held in origin dioceses of martyr, and bishops have annonced episcopal bulls. Above all missa and parade have been in martyr celebration for Berneux and Daveluy. This was large-scale celebration. And it was not depressed but glorious. Accoriding to episocopal bulls, bishops emphasized that martyrs from dioceses have been glorious. Then they made a request for canonical attention about beatification and canonization. There were two type that commemorated by means of publication. One were martyr biographies and the other were reports of mission magazine. Biographical authors refered to letters of missionaries and varieties of evidence. These biographies considered bereaved families and acquaintances of martyrs. And this publication was need to their aggrement. These books focused the martyr himself. Meanwhile mission magazines(Annales de la Propagation de la Foi and Les Missions Catholiques) introduced letters of missionaries and descrided story of Korean church martyrs. These magazines have a worth as historical records, because they are press releages that deliver stories of martyrs to French catholic christian. These articles minutely described about not only French missionaries but also Korean martyrs. This commemoration of martyr had the following intentions. First all, it provided a place of comfort for bereaved families and acquaintances of martyrs. It also tried to prepare that keep pace with re-evagelization of french catholic and foreign mission. And it wished to transmit martyr's achievement and sprituality to future generation through these documentaries(Biography and Report). Finally it considerd a beatification and a canonization.
