본 연구의 목적은 중학생의 휴대폰 중독 유형에 따른 정신건강의 차이를 규명하고, 휴대폰 중독과 정신건강이 성별에 따라서 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 분석하는 데 있다. 남녀 중학생 195명을 대상으로 휴대폰 중독 검사와 정신건강 검사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS win 14.0에 의해 t검증(t-test)과 변량분석(analysis of variance)이 수행되었으며, 신뢰도는 Cronbach's α계수를 구했는데, 휴대폰 중독은 .94, 정신건강은 .98로 나타났으며, 분석결과 다음과 같은 사실이 밝혀졌다. 첫째, 중학생의 휴대폰 중독 유형에 따라 정신건강은 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중학생의 휴대폰 중독은 성별에 따라 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.


The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between mobile phone addiction style and mental health in middle school students, and to explore the differences in their mobile phone addiction and mental health by gender. In order to accomplish this purpose, the questions that this study addresses to answer are as follows: First, are there significant differences in middle school students' mental health as a function of their mobile phone addiction style? Second, are there significant differences in the degree of their mobile phone addiction by gender? The subjects of the present study consisted of 195 middle school students sampled from 3 middle school in Jeonju city, Korea. The survey instruments used for this study were Mobile Phone Addiction Scale and Mental Health Scale. The statistical methods employed for data analysis were the t-test and ANOVA by SPSS win 14.0. The reliability coefficients(Cronbach α) of these scales were .94 and .98, respectively. The results of the study were as follows: Firstly, there were significant differences in middle school students' mental health as a function of mobile phone addiction style. Secondly, there were significant differences in the degree of their mobile phone addiction by gender.
