조선총독부 교과서를 발행한 학무국 편집과는 교과서를 발간하는 한편, 참고도서로 1910년대 실시한 3번의 구비문학 조사를 정리해, 1920년 전후에 4권의 <조선민속조사> 자료집을 발간했다. 본고에서는 그 중 『조선동화집』(1924)과 1913년 보고서를 비교 대조하여 그 관련성을 고찰하였다. 공통되는 6편의 설화를 구체적으로 분석해 그 개작 양상을 검토하였다. 다나카의 개작 내용의 특징을 세 가지로 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 조선인 아동의 일본어 학습을 유도하기 위해, 원 설화의 내용 및 표현을 순화시켜 등장인물을 재구성하였고, 성적 표현도 완화시켰다. 둘째로, 효과적 일본어 학습을 위해 원 설화의 문체를 대폭 수정해, 대화체, 반복 학습, 혼잣말, 과장법 등을 도입하였다. 셋째로, 전반적으로 줄거리와 모티브를 유지했지만, ‘착한 어린이상’을 창출하기 위한 목적으로 내용의 개작을 시도하였다. 이를 위해 갈등 인물의 성격을 더욱 악하게 묘사하고, 주인공의 성격을 더욱 온순하고 착하게 기술하였다.
The edit department which issued a textbook of the Government- General of Chosun. The chosun oral literature investigation which was being put into effect over 3 times in 1910's as a reference book on the one hand was put in order. <Chosun folk investigation> series were started around 1920 as the result thing. The report put into effect in "the chosun fairy tale collection" (1924) and 1913 in it was compared and contrasted by this paper, and its relation was considered. 6 accounts of common fairy tale was analyzed specifically and the change was analyzed in detail. When reducing the feature of Tanaka's rewrite to three, it's as follows. First, Tanaka made them purify the contents and an expression of the talk which is originally, and reorganized a character to improve the Japanese learning effect of the chosun child. A sexual expression also made ease. In the second, Tanaka corrected the style of the talk which is originally for effective Japanese learning substantially. Modal dialogue build, repetition expression, thinking aloud and exaggeration were introduced into a compensation. In the third, Tanaka generally maintained an outline and a motif faithfully. But Tanaka seems to have rewritten the contents at the destination to produce 'good child'. Tanaka described the character of the person who battles for it immorally further. On the other hand, Tanaka described the character of the main character more gently.
