본고에서는 漢字學의 한 분야로 자리 잡고 있는 漢字文化學의 개념과 연구 내용에 대해 살펴보았으며, 이러한 한자문화학의 연구 성과를 활용하여 經書 구절에 대한 해석을 진행하는 경우에 대해 검토하였고, 또 한자문화학의 연구 내용을 한문 교과의 한자 교육 및 문화 교육에 활용하는 방안에 대한 의견을 제시하였다. 중국에서는 1990년대 이후로 한자문화학이 본격적으로 등장하기 시작하였다. 한자문화학은 漢字 自體에 함유하고 있는 문화적 요소에 주목하여, 한자 연구를 통해 古代文化를 이해하고 고대문화에 근거하여 한자를 해석하는 것을 강조한다. 이를 위해, 한자학을 중심으로 하면서 역사학, 민속학, 문헌학 등 관련 분야를 통섭하여 연구를 진행하고 있다. 이러한 한자문화학의 연구 성과는 중국고대문화에 대한 이해, 經書 등 고대 문헌의 해석, 한자 교육 등의 다방면에서 활용할 수 있다. 한자문화학의 연구 성과는 經書 구절을 정확하게 해석하는 데에 유용하다. 본고에서는 『詩經』을 중심으로 그 사례를 살펴보았다. 예를 들면, 고대사회의 화폐 문화를 담고 있는 朋, 노예 문화를 담고 있는 民과 臣, 기물 문화를 담고 있는 豆 등의 한자가 『시경』 경문에서 사용된 용례 및 그것의 해석에 대해서 고찰해 보았다. 한자문화학의 연구 성과는 한문 교과의 한자 교육 및 문화 교육에도 다양하게 활용할 수 있다. 현재 한문 교과의 문화 교육은 주로 우리의 전통문화 및 한․중․일 한자문화권 국가의 문화에 중점을 두고 있다. 물론 이러한 내용은 큰 가치를 지니고 있지만, 이에 더하여 한자문화학의 연구 성과를 활용한 한자 교육을 진행하게 된다면 한자에 대한 이해를 더욱 제고시킬 수 있으며 또한 중국의 고대문화를 이해하는 데에도 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
This paper looked into concepts and study results of Chinese characters cultural science, examined various interpretations of Chinese classics phrases utilizing the study results of Chinese characters cultural science, and at the same time proposed opinions of the methods of utilizing the study contents of Chinese characters cultural science for Chinese characters education in Chinese Writing subject and cultural education in Korea. Chinese characters cultural science emphasizes to understand ancient culture through Chinese characters study and to interpret Chinese characters based on ancient culture by noting cultural elements contained in Chinese characters themselves. For that, in Chinese characters cultural science, centering on Chinese characters science, studies are being made by interpreting related fields such as history science, folk science, literature science, etc. Such study results of Chinese characters cultural science can be utilized in various fields such as understanding Chinese ancient culture, interpreting classical literatures including Chinese classics, education of Chinese characters, etc. The study results of Chinese characters culture science are useful in exactly interpreting phrases of Chinese classics. In this paper, some examples are examined centering around The Book of Odes(詩經). For example, it examined the usage in which Chinese characters, etc. such as 朋 containing currency culture of ancient society, and 民 and 臣 implying slave culture, etc. are used in the text of The Book of Odes. The study results of Chinese characters cultural science can be also utilized in Chinese characters education in Chinese Writing subject and cultural education of Korea. At present, the cultural education in Chinese Writing subject is mostly concentrated on Korean traditional culture and the culture of the three countries, that is, Korea, China, and Japan. Of course, this method has a large meaning, but Chinese education utilizing the study results of Chinese characters culture science may increase more understanding of Chinese characters, also may be helpful to understanding Chinese ancient culture.
