에큐메니칼 운동의 정신을 나타내는 에큐메니칼 영성이 있다면 그 영성을 밝히 드러내고 구체적으로 표현하는 가장 기초적이며 근본적인 행위는 에큐메니칼 영성에 근거한 예배를 드리는 것이 될 것이다. 그래서 본 논문은 에큐메니칼 영성에 기초한 통일된 예배 의식의 구조와 순서가 가능한지를 살펴보고, 그에 따른 하나의 에큐메니칼 예배의 모델(모형 또는 모범)을 제시하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 에큐메니칼 운동의 영성을 표현하는 내용으로서의 에큐메니즘의 성격은 통념상 신앙적인 고백의 일치와 교회간의 연합이라는 것으로 정의되어 왔다. 그러나 필자는 에큐메니칼 운동의 영성은 단순한 통합과 획일화를 요구하는 강요된 일치이기보다는, 교파적, 교리적, 지역적 차이성과 다양성을 존중하고 조화를 이루어 가면서 하나의 신앙 모습을 표현하고 하나 된 행동을 표출하고자 하는 ‘하나 됨’ 또는 ‘하나로 되어가는’ 영성으로 이해하고자 한다. 따라서 에큐메니칼 영성은 공동예배를 통하여 그리스도에 대한 전(全 )교회의 ‘신앙 표현에 대한 내용적 일치’를 추구하면서 그것이 활동하는 운동이 될 때에는 서로의 다양성을 인정하며 연합하여 행동하는 ‘참여의 조화’를 이루는 것이 되어야 할 것이다. 이러한 에큐메니칼 운동의 영성을 드러내는 공통된 예배 의식은 고정된 하나의 틀로서 주일 낮 공동예배를 제시하기 보다는 교회력의 특별한 순간(부활절, 성령강림절, 성탄절과 같은)이나, 특정한 에큐메니칼 사업을 수행할 때에 그 사업에 영성과 함께 신앙적 활력을 불어 넣을 수 있는 공통된 예배 및 예식의 내용과 순서를 제공하는 것이 바람직하리라 본다. 또한 통과의례의 예전에 있어 에큐메니칼 예식서를 공동으로 제작하여 국내의 선교는 물론 국외에서의 선교 활동에 통일성을 보여주는 것도 선교의 협력과 일치라는 에큐메니칼 운동의 정신(영성)을 살리는데 큰 역할을 하리라 여긴다.
If there is an ecumenical spirituality disclosing the spirit of the ecumenical movement, the basic and fundamental act, which shows and expresses the spirituality in a concrete form, shall be a liturgical worship service based upon the spirit. In this regard, the aim of this article is to seek for a possibility to find the structure and form of an unified liturgical service based upon the ecumenical spirituality and to show a model (or example) of ecumenical worship service. Ecumenism, whose features are to express the contents of the spirit of the ecumenical movement, has been defined as the harmony and unity of the ecclesiastical confession between churches. However, in this article, I seek to understand a spirituality of one-in-many or of democratic convergence, which respects regional difference and diversity and builds up harmony, while it expresses its faith as one and fulfills practical action for it as one, rather than that of constrained unity forcing over-simplification and standardization. Thus, the ecumenical spirituality shall fulfill ‘participative harmony’ recognizing the diversity of each other and actualizing their unity when it wants to become a living movement seeking for ‘the unity of the confessions in content of all churches through its common liturgy. In this regard, the common liturgy, which expresses the spirituality of the ecumenical movement, is not to suggest a kind of Sunday worship service in a fixed form but to show a common framework for ecumenical service in its content and order which is designed for some special moments in seasons like Easter, Advent and Christmas or for special projects of the movement. Also, I believe it would be a huge contribution to the ecumenical movement to show the active unity of domestic and foreign missions by commonly having an ecumenical liturgy for some rites of passage.
