본 연구는 복음적 인성교육을 기독교대학의 교육적 사명인 신앙과 학문을 효과적으로 통합시킬 수 있는 가능성으로 제시하며, 동시에 기독교대학의 인성교육을 위한 새로운 패러다임으로 제시하려는 하나의 시도이다. 현재 한국 기독교대학들의 인성교육은 대학채플과 기독교 교과목들인 교양필수과목들에 지나치게 의존되어 있어서, 교양교육의 수준을 넘지 못하거나 필수과목이란 보호 아래 최소한의 종교의식으로 대접을 받고 있다. 대학채플은 비기독교인 학생들에 대한 관심과 배려를 제공하지 못할 때 마찰을 피할 수 없으며, 교양과목으로 분류된 기독교 교과목들은 점차 저학년들만을 대상으로 축소 운영된다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 한계와 문제들을 지니고 있는 기존의 인성교육에 대한 대안으로 모든 학생들을 대상으로, 그리고 지속적으로 운영될 수 있으며 동시에 신앙과 학문을 효과적으로 통합할 수 있는 새로운 인성교육 방안을 제시하려 한다. 본 연구는 기독교대학들의 인성교육이 지닌 문제들과 동시에 해결 방안을 제시하기 위해 신앙과 학문의 통합이라는 관점으로부터 접근하여 먼저, 현재 한국의 기독교대학들에서 진행되고 있는 인성교육의 현황과 문제들을 다루면서 일반대학의 인성교육과의 차별성을 상실하게 된 원인들을 규명한 다음, 이런 문제점들에 대한 해결 방안으로 대학채플과 기독교교과목들이 지니고 있는 한계와 문제들을 보완하기 위해 현재 계명대학교가 운영하고 있는 인성교육과목의 사례를 중심으로 기독교대학에서 적용 가능한 복음적 인성교육 방안을 제시하려 한다.
The study is an attempt to suggest evangelical personality development as a possibility as well as an effective strategy for faith-learning integration. The integration of faith and learning is at the essence of authentic Christian higher education with the purpose of campus evangelization and should be wholeheartedly implemented across the campus and across the curriculum. This was once the goal of almost every Christian universities in Korea. However, it is no longer the case. Evangelical personality development is a unique Christian education to integrate faith by university chapel and learning by liberal arts. The inclusive personality development in higher education must be evangelical and intentional about integrating faith and learning in every discipline as well as chapel and Christian liberal arts. In this essay, in order to find an alternative way of faith-learning integration we attempts to map the territory of personality development between non-Christian universities and Christian ones in Korea. After discussing the nature of and necessity for such integration, we evaluates several strategies for integration in them. The study concludes by outlining dimensions of faith-learning integration by way of evangelical personality development in both the theoretical and applied disciplines.
