이 논문은 현대시에서 음운이 갖는 의미론적 기능에 관해 연구한 논문이다. 시의 음운 자체가 의미로서 작용하는 현상을 셋으로 나누어 살폈다. 첫째, 의성과 의태로서 기능하는 음운이 있다. 표면적으로 드러난 문법적 의미와 이면에 숨은 음운적 의미가 상호작용함으로써 시를 구성하는 시편들의 예가 있다. 둘째, 어조를 강화하는 음운의 의미화 작용이 있다. 시적 주체의 전언을 강력히 지지하는 음운들이 있다. 시적 주체의 감정과 전언과 상황은 이 음운의 배열로써만 드러난다. 셋째, 행갈이가 감당하는 음운적 의미가 있다. 행과 연의 분절이 만들어내는 휴지는 의미를 낳거나 강조하거나 변형하는 마이너스 장치로 기능한다. 음운적 의미는 시가 기표의 자립성을 다른 어느 장르보다도 중시한다는 증거 가운데 하나다. 이를 고려함으로써, 시의 분석과 해명이 완전해질 수 있으리라 판단된다.
This study is concerned with semantic function of phoneme. There are three type of which a phoneme in poetry gets a meaning. First, there is onomatopoeic and mimetic functions of a phoneme. Between grammatical meaning on surface and phonemic meaning of inside, poetry is composed of. Second, The phonemic meaning make force the tone of poetic subject. These phonemes support the message of poetic subject. Lastly, there is a phonemic meaning through division of verses. The pause what division of verse and stanza makes is a kind of minus mechanism. Considering a phonemic meaning, the analysis of poetry will be completed.
