현대소설의 문체 연구는 지금까지 주로 특정한 작가의 작품을 대상으로 진행되어왔다. 이상, 김유정, 김승옥, 이문구 등이 대표적인데, 이는 이들 작가가 다른 작가와는 다르게 특정한 토속적인 분위기를 드러내는 어휘나 특징적인 수사법을 자주 활용했다는 점에 기인하고 있다. 그러나 이 같은 문체 연구의 경우 개별 작가의 특성은 분석적으로 고증할 수 있으나 그것이 다른 작가의 문체와 어떤 차이를 보여주는지, 고유한 특징인지 등을 충분히 밝힐 수 없다는 점에서 한계가 있다. 또한 이를 극복하기 위하여 진행된 문체 연구의 일반론을 정립하려는 연구에서는 서사 구조와 인물의 특징 등에 주목하거나 담론 층위의 방향성만을 제시하고 있어서 문체 연구만의 특징을 밝히지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 이 같은 현대소설의 문체 연구를 보완하고자 하는 목적을 가지고 개별 작가의 문체 형성의 기본 요인인 어휘 사용 양상을 계량적 방법을 통해 접근하고자 하였다. 이는 작가별 작품에 사용된 어휘를 광범위하게 코퍼스로 구축하고, 형태소 단위로 분석한 후 그 결과를 통계적으로 살펴보는 것이다. 그 결과 주제어와 비주제어 모두의 측면에서 대상 작가들 사이의 차이점이 분명하게 확인되었고, 이를 바탕으로 보다 논증적인 문체 연구의 방향성을 찾을 수 있었다.
Stylistic study of modern novel mainly have been conducted some writer's works. Lee Sang, Kim Yoojung, Kim Seungok, Lee Mungu etc. Because those writers easily distinguished from other writers and writing in style. However, this study has limited in distinguishing of unique style of writers work. Just show the characteristics of the individual authors only. Stylistic study have not been studied enough, as well as the study of most of the stylistics are focused on narrative, character, ideology. Therefore, this paper specifically shows objective evidence that a quantitative research method founded on computerization is very useful in researching style. To build vocabulary to Corpus of novel and analyze into morpheme. As a result, both main and non-main target in terms of the differences between the writers were clearly identified. These results show that the essential stylistic study is possible.
