In Spanish the veb of relative clause may be in the indicative or in the subjuntive mood. Several factors seem to be involved in the change of mood from indicative to subjunctive. In this paper, I analyzed them one by one and conclude that no single fenomenon can be taken as a determining facto. The ambiguity can be explaine by proposing two indefinite article which may be distinguished by the feature [+SPECIFIC]. The way of dis ambiguating the mood of relative clause is by extending distinction between a referential and an attributive use of definite NP to indefinite NP. If the antecedent is used referentially, the speaker has a specific person in mind and he could even have used her name if he wanted to. If the sentnce is used attributively,no particular person is meant and it is possible that such a person does not even exist.
