In this paper, the grammaticalization of the English causal connector just because is described. As a concessive marker, just because is typically used in the pattern of just because [A] doesn't mean [B]. This paper mainly focuses just as a trigger for the construction of just because [A] doesn't mean [B] to become a concessive connector. We trace the meaning of just, which pinpoints because to be employed altogether as a concessive marker. In addition, using the British National Corpus, we analyse the construction of just because to identify its fixed construction as just because [A] doesn't mean [B]. As a result, we corroborate the conclusions drawn by Bender and Kathol (2001), and Hilpert (2007)
