This study conducted perceptual experiment for Chinese Korean learners in order to examine what cues are used to perceive for three-way distinctions of Korean stops. For experiment, the stimuli were made by manipulating the lenis stop of voice onset time(VOT) and fundamental frequency(F0). Chinese Korean learners of beginner, intermediate and advanced proficiency level were participated. The results show that Chinese Korean learners became to perceive lenis stops and to distinguish lenis and aspirated stops according to learners’ proficiency. It comes from using F0 as perceptual cue for stops. The distinction ability in Korean stops of Chinese learners was improved as F0 became to be used for perceptual cue that did not use to distinguish stops in their native language. In this regard, it can be effective teaching method for Chinese learners to use difference of F0 according to phonation types in Korean stops.
