While the study of “Time-Span Phrase” sentences in modern Chinese has some important benefits, the study about this in ancient Chinese is a little weak. Applying the methods of description, explanatory and statistics, this study tries to put the focal point of diachronic research on the devolvement of the “Time-Span Phrase” sentences from the Song to Ming dynasties. Firstly, we discussed the development of the structure of “Verb+lai+Time-Span Phrase” and we found that when there are no other complements, “lai” is more connected. In the Song dynasty the structure of “verb+le+Time- span Phrase” was mainly used, so “lai” was replaced by “le.” We also discussed the development of the structure of “verb+ object+lai+Time-span Phrase” and we found that the abscission of “lai” is the result of grammaticalization of the structure itself.
