본 연구의 목적은 노년기 사회활동의 참여경험을 탐색하여 참여동기를 유형화하고자 하는 것이다. 이에 질적 접근의 연구방법인 근거이론이 적용 되었으며, 자료수집을 위하여 서울시의 25개 구 중 13개 구에서 무작위로 추출된 남성노인 8명과 여성노인 8명을 대상으로 2011년 8월 10일 집단인터뷰를 실시하였다. 자료분석은 Strauss & Corbin(1998)이 고안한 패러다임 모형에 맞추어 일련의 순서에 따라 분석되었다. 분석은 개방코딩에서 상위범주 6개, 하위범주 15개, 개념의 속성과 차원 61개를 도출하였고, 패러다임 모델에 따라서 인과적 조건, 중심현상, 맥락적 조건, 중재조건, 상호작용 전략과 결과 순으로 진행했다. 분석결과 중심현상은 ‘노년기 삶의 활력을 찾고자 하는 욕구’에서 노년기 사회활동에 관한 참여 동기가 시작되었고, 인과적 조건은 사회활동을 선택할 수 있는 범위와 활동수준으로, 맥락적 조건은 접근성과 이용시설 등의 사회 환경적 요인으로, 중재적 조건은 긴밀한 관계망과 노인을 배려하는 사회분위기로, 상호작용 전략에서는 신뢰관계 형성으로, 마지막으로 결과는 자신감을 회복하고 잠재력을 발휘하는 것으로 도출됐다. 이러한 분석틀을 바탕으로 노년기 사회활동 참여동기는 자기만족형, 관계형성형, 사회통합형으로 유형화되었다. 본 연구의 이론적 함의는 노년기 사회활동에 영향을 주는 동기요인에 대한 준거 틀을 마련할 수 있는 개념들을 제시할 수 있다는 것과 노년기 사회활동의 동기요인과 관련된 인과 관계를 파악하는데 기초자료로 활용이 가능할 것이다. 이에 따른 실절적 함의는 노인을 위한 사회활동관련 프로그램 개발 및 서비스를 제공하는 사회복지기관 종사자들에게 사회활동 참여동기 유형에 대한 이해의 근거를 제시할 수 있고, 향후 노인사회활동 관련 정책개발에 기초적인 자료를 제공할 것이다.
The study was to analysis and to make typology of social participatation motivation according to type of social participation. The study was applied to qualitative method involving Strauss & Corbin grounded theory. The date was collected from femane elderly leople(8) and male elderly people(8) sampled 13 district of Seoul through in-depth interview. The date was analysized by the procedures of grounded theory-open coding, performed conceptualization(61) and categorization(6), axial coding, carried out category and process analysis, selective coding, performed core category. The results of the study as following: in axial coding the casual conditions was the level and range for selection of social participation, the contextual conditions was the social environmental factors for approach, facialities and so on, the core phenomenon was the social atmosphere for networking and consideration for elderly people, the strategy of action/interaction was the establish the confidential relationship, the intervention conditions was the recover of self-esteem and showing the potential. on the based of open coding, in selective coding three types of social participation motivation was founded,the self-esteem type, the network formation type, the social integration type. The implication of the result of the study was as follows: firstly, in theoretical aspect the result offered the comprehensive understanding on the social participation motivation for elderly people. Secondly in practical aspect of the study was offering the opportunity of basic date for the programme development for eldely people as well as for the worker, who would be involved providing service for elderly people
