한국 언어문화 교육에서 언어문화 요소를 적절하게 잘 담고 있는 교재도 중요하지만그보다는 그 교재를 활용하여 직간접적으로 외국인에게 교육을 할 한국어교원들의역량이 훨씬 더 중요하다. 특히 국내가 아닌 국외에서의 한국 언어문화 교육은더욱 그러하다. 해외 현지에서 한국어를 배우는 학생들은 한국 유학의 목적을 갖고 있거나 한류열풍으로 인해 호기심 혹은 한국 드라마나 K-POP 등 보다 나은 의사소통을 목적으로하고 있는 경우가 많다. 그렇기 때문에 이들을 대상으로 하는 한국어교육은 언어를통해 단순한 대화뿐만 아니라 학문 목적을 달성할 수 있도록 진행되어야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 무엇보다 한국어교육을 진행하는 교수자 또는 한국어교사의한국 언어문화에 대한 교육 능력과 이들의 역할이 중요하다. 왜냐하면 이들이 곧한국어 전파자인 동시에 한국문화의 전파자이기 때문이고 이들에게 한국어와 한국문화를 교육받은 외국인들 역시 종래에는 한국어를 활용하는 한국어 전파자인 동시에한국 문화를 전파하는 전파자가 될 것이기 때문이다. 따라서 외국인들에게 어떻게한국어를 가르치고 한국문화를 교육할 것인가는 이들을 교육할 한국어교사의 자질과역량에 따라 결정될 가능성이, 한국어 교육에 필요한 교재나 교육에 사용할 교구가가지는 영향력보다도 훨씬 크다. 이러한 차원에서 이 글은 단순한 의사소통을 넘어 문화 전파자로서의 역할을하게 될 예비 한국어교사에게 어떻게 한국 언어문화를 어떤 교육 프로그램으로구성하여 지도할 것인가에 대해 논의한 것이다.
In the Korean language and culture eduction, it is crucial that not only a textbook which contains adequate language and culture components, but also competency of Korean language teachers who directly and indirectly teach Korean to the foreign language learners with the textbook. Even more so when applied to Korean language and culture education in the foreign countries than in Korea. Korean language learners in another country have purpose of studying abroad in Korea, as well as the better communication for watching Korean drama or K-POP. Therefore, Korean language education for the Korean learners should be for not only simple conversation, but for achieving academic success. First of all, this includes educational competencies and roles of Korean instructors or Korean language teachers who teach Korean language and culture. They would be spreaders for Korean language and Korean culture at the same time. Eventually the Korean learners educated from the Korean language teachers could be also spreaders for Korean language and culture. Thus, how to teach Korean language and culture for the foreign language learners depends on Korean teachers' qualification and competency rather than the influence of Korean textbooks or materials in Korean language education. From this perspective, this paper investigates the proposal how to teach Korean language and culture for pre-service Korean language teachers becoming culture spreaders, not just communicators.
