Some theologians consider Calvin “the theologian of sacraments”. There may be a few sentences in his Institute that could mislead us to regard Calvin as a theologian who has no great interest in the sacraments. However, Calvin’s teaching on the sacraments is one of the central theological themes in his theology as the relationship between God and man plays such an important part in it. Calvin insists in his Institute that Christians can experience the close relationship in the sacraments. There are two close relationships between God and man in the sacraments: a) spiritual growth in Jesus Christ, b) oneness with Jesus Christ.
