The purpose of this study is to examine the views of Calvin, the Reformer on the issues of marriage, divorce and remarriage. According to Calvin, marriage has a meaning more than a copulation, a procreation or a childbirth. Marriage is the institution edified by God. Through marriage, the men find God’s Will, reflect themselves, grow consciousness of their responsibility to the society and mankind. At this point, Calvin’s view of marriage has still a value for the churches today. Recently many young men live alone or with their parents avoiding marriage. Though there are certainly the ones who haven’t found a proper partner yet or who are not in the suitable condition for marriage, there are many who live without special conception following the secular contemporary trend, not wanting to know the cause and necessity of marriage. Therefore the churches have to make greater efforts so that the young men have a right understanding of marriage and family. Having the good biblical, theological and pastoral ground, Calvin’s view aid the edification of the perspective of marriage that is well received by contemporary christians and gain their sympathy.
