이 연구는 2000년대 이후 거의 동시에 일어나고 있는 한국 대중문화의 유행인 소위 “한류” 현상에 대하여 보다 실체적으로 접근하여 그 원인과 의미를 진단하고자 한다. 연구대상 국가는 중국으로 한정하였는데 그것은 한류의 어원이 중국에서 유래되었고 한중 수교이후 한류 현상이 매우 활성화 되고 있을 뿐 아니라 지리적으로 인접해 있는 등 연구추진이 비교적 용이하기 때문이었다. 연구자는 한류현상의 실체를 보다 현실적으로 규명하기 위하여 한국어를 전공하는 현지 중국 대학생과 한국 체류 중국 유학생들을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 조사결과 현지 대학생과 한국 체류 유학생간에 한류에 대한 인식에서 어느 정도 차이를 볼 수는 있었지만 한국의 대중문화에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며 이를 통해 한국에 대한 관심이 급격히 증가하였음을 알 수 있었다.이 연구를 통하여 중국 전역에서 확산되고 있는 한류 현상의 근원과 효과 및 지속 가능성을 진단할 수 있을 것으로 전망하고 있다. 이 연구를 통해 지금까지 알려진 한류에 관한 지식과 정보의 실체가 신뢰할 수 있는 내용인지 아니면 경제적 효과에 과다하게 집착한 상업주의에 의해 지배되고 있는지를 확인하여 그 교육적 처방을 모색할 것이며 만일 한류 현상 자체가 범국가적으로 긍정적으로 기여한다면 양국간 청소년 교류 활성화를 촉진할 수 있는 기회로 삼을 수 있도록 촉구할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to identify Korean Wave (Han-Ryu) perceived by Chinese youth. For this study, the data were corrected by 60 college students from China somewhere area. The study results show that most Chinese youth recognize the existence of Korean Wave and Korean Wave has contributed to forming positive image of Korea. Also, Korean Wave has influenced Chinese youth to develop their interests on Korea and their willingness to interact with Korean youth. However, Korean Wave enjoyers are not directly related to poor academic achievers or specific social class youth. The phenomenon of Korean Wave implies some meaningful. For the Korea exported culture product into China, but in the history by a long time Korea just imported culture from China. More intimated interchanges and cooperation was expected for the continuous and coexist of Korea and Chinese mass culture. The continuance of the Korean Wave will be possible under the following conditions: first, no change in the current leading ideology of Chinese situation and governing guidelines second, overall economic growth in China and the continual growth in the cultural industry.
