본 논문은 해방 직후 국내 정치조직화의 발단이 되었던 건준 중앙조직의약화과정과 그 요인을 일제 총독부의 건준 견제, 재건 공산파(재건파)의 건준 장악과 배타적 조직 재편, 우파의 건준 참여를 둘러싼 건준 내 여운형계와 재건파의 대립, 초기 건준을 주도했던 지도부의 분열과 여운형의 정치력 부재의 요인으로 정리하면서 그 과정을 당시의 자료를 중심으로 자세하게 논증하고 있다. 구체적으로 본 논문에서는 극좌파인 재건파의 건준 지도부 잠식과정에 나타난 공산당 파벌간의 세력투쟁과 이에 수반된 전략,재건파의 여운형에 대한 견제와 초기 건준에 대한 비판적 평가, 일시적이었지만 우파의 건준 참여시도에 대한 건준 내 여운형계와 박헌영계의 대립, 여운형과 안재홍의 갈등, 건준과 건국동맹에 대한 여운형의 관계정립등 기존의 연구에서 자세히 밝히지 않은 부분들을 중심으로 건준의 약화과정을 밝히고 있다. 이를 통해 8.15 해방 직후 건준을 중심으로 3주간에 걸쳐 급박하게 전개되어 갔던 국내정치사를 이해하고자 한다.
