이 논문은 1897년 대한제국 수립 이후부터 1945년 광복까지의 시기에관한 8종 고등학교 한국사 교과서의 서술들을 국제정치사적 쟁점들을 중심으로 비교-분석하고, 그 문제점과 대안을 모색한다. 2014년에 사용된고등학교 한국사 검인정 교과서 8종은 7차 교육과정에서 사용되었던 국정국사 교과서에 비해 국제정치사적 맥락과 한국사적 특수성을 조화시키기위해 상당한 양을 할애하고 있다는 점에서 진일보한 측면이 있다. 그러나한국사 연구에서 생성된 일국사적 관점이 국제정치사적 배경 설명에 투영되는 경향이 강한 반면 압도적 영향력을 발휘했던 국제정치에 대한 분석에기초한 한국사 서술은 미흡하다. 국제정치사의 사건/인물들과 한국사의 사건/인물들 간의 상호작용이 명료하게 서술되지 못하고 있다.
This article compares and analyzes eight government-endorsed Korean high school history textbooks, focusing on issues pertaining to international history and Korean modern history from 1897 to 1945. The eight government-endorsed Korean high school history textbooks used in 2014, compared to the single textbook approved by the state used in the seventh educational process, have progressed in terms of dealing with Korean history in the context of international history. However, international history is only described in terms of the background of Korean history rather than international history per se. Thus, the interplay between international events and figures and Korean events and figures tends to be vague, and the overwhelming influences of international politics tend to be underrepresented.
