조선 후기의 연희풍속은 조선 후기 풍속의 일면을 보여주고 있다. 조선 후기 유랑예인집단들을 살피는 작업이 필요한 이유이다. 이러한 연희풍속은 판소리와 풍속화에 공통적으로 나타나고 있어 흥미롭다. 판소리와 풍속화에 나타난 연희풍속의 양상은 조선 후기 연희풍속의 전반적인 특징을 나타내고 있다는 점에서 주목할 만하다. <흥보전>의 ‘놀보박사설’과 혜원의 그림, 그리고 <기산풍속도>에는 조선 후기 연희풍속이 잘 드러나 있다. 이들은 비록 문학과 회화라는 다른 영역에 속해있지만 서로 괴리되어 있는 것이 아니라 밀접하게 이어져 있다. 이들은 모두 조선 후기 연희풍속의 양상과 의미를 보여주고 있기 때문이다. 이를 통해 우리는 조선 후기 연희풍속이 어떻게 생성하고 소멸했으며, 지역적 특징에 따라 어떻게 변화했는지를 살필 수 있다. 또한 19세기말에서 20세기 초 격변기 연희풍속의 변화를 통해 사라져버린 연희풍속을 조금이나마 재구해 볼 수 있을 것이다.


The play customs at the latter half of the Chosun Dynasty showed the customs of the era. Therefore, wandering artist group of the latter half of the Chosun Dynasty needs to be investigated. The play customs commonly made appearance on both Pansori and genre picture to be interesting. The play customs showed general features of the era. Both the Korean literature circle and the forklore circle investigated play customs. The Korean literature circle examined literary values of the play group, while the folklore circle did general matters of the group. However, both circles are thought to examine from individual research level. Heungbojeon's Nobobaksaseol, Hyewon's painting and 'Kisanpungsokdo', etc expressed the play customs well in the latter half of the Chosun Dynasty. Those Pansori and paintings belonged to different area, that is to say, the literature and the paintings, but had close relations. This is because they showed aspects and values of the play of the era. In that way, the play customs in the latter half of the Chosun Dynasty made appearance and disappeared and made change depending upon regional features. The real aspect of the play customs, which disappeared at the change of play from the end of the 19th century to early 20th century, could be reexamined.
