Charles Haddon Spurgeon has known for the “Prince of Preachers,” and he is the model for many contemporary preachers. Numerous theological students and Bible scholars study his theological conviction and preaching. However, this article focuses on another angle of his ministry. The purpose of this study is to examine how Charles H. Spurgeon understood missions, and how he conducted evangelistic ministry and mission works in his church, the Metropolitan Tabernacle. In particular, the writer attempted to reveal why missions was the priority of Spurgeon’s ministry. After examining his sermons,books, and writings, the paper suggested how to apply his mission theology and activity to our local church setting. For the purpose,the writer first reviewed his early years, conversion experience, and ministries. Spurgeon was absolutely convinced and committed to the fact that the Church has a great mission from God. He emphasized that gospel missions is the absolute duty as well as the eminent privilege of the Church. Indeed, mission task was a priority of his ministry. Spurgeon asserted that missions is a God-given mandate, and acknowledged that God is looking for ones who will obey to his mandate. He also believed that there is a direct relationship between the success of missions and the commitment level of professed followers of Jesus. Actually, Spurgeon was a great missionary mobilizer and mission-minded minister. Furthermore, Spurgeon ardently attempted to make his church to become a missional one. Convincing that mission is the church’s essence, he conducted various mission works in homeland and foreign countries with the solid doctrinal belief. Thus, his mission theologies and evangelistic efforts provide a great challenge to contemporary churches and ministers. Korean churches once again need to acknowledge the truth that church's essence is missions and soul-winning is the principal work of every Christian life and ministry. In addition, they must develop a balanced mission strategy for the twenty-first century’s world evangelization. God wants Korean churches to aware His heart for the lost and His purpose for the world. Charles H. Spurgeon no longer lives, but the God of Spurgeon still lives. His great commission that every Christian and church must obey is always with us. In this sense, to study Spurgeon’s mission theology and evangelistic ministry is worthwhile
