AB - It is known that U.S. customs offices operate many informed compliance tools to improve broker's compliance. Informed compliance includes education, counseling and overall communication, broker account management, etc. And brokers in U.S. are required to obtain power of attorneys from their clients before transacting customs business in their clients' names. The purpose of any POA is to grant this authority and to define, or limit, the authority. POA has positive effect to increase broker's responsibilities and to improve compliance. But customs offices in Korea lack the effort of informed compliance to improve broker's compliance. Therefore, customs offices should make increase effort to improve broker's compliance through informed compliance tools as education, providing broker compliance data to broker and acquirement of POAs from their clients.
