이 글은 그동안 작품 실상이 거의 알려지지 않은 중국소설 <진해춘추>를 종합적으로 고찰한 논문이다. <진해춘추>는 광해군ㆍ인조 연간에 조선 椵島에 주둔한 바 있는 명나라 장수 毛文龍을 주인공으로 한 소설로, 기본적으로는 英雄傳奇 계열에 드는 작품이다. ‘吳門嘯客’이라는 사람이 지은 明末 백화소설로, 세계 유일의 목판본 한 종이 잔존본으로 전한다. 우선 이 작품은 영웅전기답게 주인공 모문룡에 대한 영웅적 활약상이 중추적인 서사를 차지한다. 서술시각의 초점이 주인공을 영웅화ㆍ미화하는 데 맞추어져 있다. 그런가 하면 퍽 강한 반청의식을 드러낸 소설이기도 하다. 청나라 건립의 주체인 後金이 한갓 ‘오랑캐’로 치부되고 있다. 훗날 이 작품은 청나라 건륭 연간에 간행된 관찬 금서목록에 저록되었는데, 거기에는 그럴 만한 이유가 충분했다. 무엇보다도 한국의 연구자가 볼 때 <진해춘추>는 조선의 금기에도 정면으로 배치되는 내용들 또한 많다는 점에서 특기할 만하다. 명청교체기라는 동북아 정세 속에서의 조선의 굵직한 정치적ㆍ사회적 동향들이 나타난다는 것이다. 조선과 후금의 관계, 광해군의 외교 정책에 대한 명나라의 시각, 계해반정 당시의 조선국 정세 및 중국의 반응, 李适의 난, 정묘호란 당시의 정황 등이 대거 서술돼 있다. 기본적으로 허구적 형상화이지만, 그 가운데에는 당시 조선의 진실이 상당 부분 담겨 있다. 조선에서도 도저히 읽힐 수 없는 금서소설인 것이다. 매우 이례적인 중국소설로, 바로 한국의 연구자들이 논의할 필요가 있는 작품이다.
This study comprehensively considers <JinHeChunChu(鎭海春秋)>, the Chinese novel whose literary work has been not almost known all the while. In <JinHeChunChu>, there is Mo Mun-Ryong(毛文龍) who was the Ming dynasty’s commander stayed in Chosun Gado(椵島) in the periods of Gwanghegun(光海君) and Injo(仁祖). <JinHeChunChu> is basically kind of a heroic biography. It was written by OhMunSoGek(吳門嘯客) as the novel in the late Ming’s Colloquial Chinese. It is handed down as the world-only wood print. This literary work contains the heroic activity of Mo Mun-Ryong like the heroic biography. The viewpoint of narration is focuses on heroizing and beautifying the hero. Also, it indicates the strong sense of anti-Ching. The subject of Ching dynasty’s foundation, HuGeum(後金) is depicted as a barbarian. From the viewpoint of Korean researchers, it is very special that <JinHeChunChu> contains a lot of contents against Chosun’s taboo. Chosun’s big political and social trends are indicated in Northeast Asia’s situation of Ming-Qing(明淸) Transition. The relation between Chosun and HuGeum, Ming’s viewpoint on Gwanghegun’s diplomatic policy, Chosun’s situation and China’s reaction at GyeHeBanJeong(癸亥反正), Revolt of Lee Gwal(李适), and the political situations of JeongMyoHoRan(丁卯胡亂) are narrated. It is basically a fictitious figuration, but the truth of Chosun is contained a lot. It is a banned novel which couldn’t be read even in Chosun. This novel needs to be discussed by Korean researchers as very exceptional Chinese novel.
