The purpose of this study is to analyze the adaptation for daily life of probated juveniles. For this purpose, in-depth interviews which were performed with the subjects, 10 juveniles on probation from April 1 to June 30, 2008 were analyzed using the Grounded theory of Corbin and Strauss. From the result of study, 122 concepts, 40 subcategories and 14 categories were derived. The central phenomenon about the probation experiences of juvenile delinquents were analyzed to be “the fight to integrate as a member of society,” and the interconnecting conditions appeared to be “responsibility, low self-esteem and strong will.” conditions were “self-reflection, self-control and support from the surroundings,” and the strategies of interaction were “the modification of understanding, renewed resolution and the pursuit of stability by returning to society.” The results were analyzed as escapism, depression and self-reliance. The core categories of probation experiences for juvenile delinquents were analyzed as “the effort to integrate as the member of society and the self-reliance by overcoming the difficulties of probation with renewed resolution,” and the confirmation of the relation between the core categories with categories appearing continuously resulted in the classification of reclusive type, depressed type and self-reliance type. Through the result of this study, juveniles on probation are recognizing the reality where they must change themselves in order to achieve resocialization. Therefore, the necessity for systematic approach was emphasized along with the development of program which accounts for the situation, nature and desires according to age, delinquency and time lapse.
