The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction that the church should holistically take in its social participation with poverty in the world. The social participation of the church in poverty is shown through the Bible, which commands us to help the poor and socially week people. The World Council of Churches realized their concern in leading society in the fight against poverty and started to do practical deeds for the poor. It sensitively reacted to wars of independent nations, terrors, etc. It also expanded its social activities and practiced them in detail by accepting such situations as an assignment for it to solve. However, its active social participation led to tending to almost neglect the proclamation of the Gospel and then its missions themselves were understood as social activities. This study concluded that the reason that the perspectives of social participation in issues of poverty is partial. The partial of understanding of mission and the problem showing the relationship between the proclamation of the Gospel and contexts were all involved. It studied the contents of social participation of the church towards poverty and suggested as an answer the cross in the Bible where the theology from below and the theology from above meet together, so that it suggested a holistic mission to decrease the gap of the two perspectives through unifying of perspectives of Missio Dei and the kingdom of God that are understood differently by them. It suggested the life of Christ through discipleship for faith, what a practical method is for the incarnation of Christ for the church, and the life to live together and holistic transformation for society. Poverty is a necessary assignment that the church as a part of this world has to solve by participating in it. It has been an unavoidable problem for a very long time with human beings, and should be solved by the church. Christianity has to check how hard it tries to solve the problem depending on the Bible. Many people will feel moved by the opening mind and attitude of the church. Through such an attitude of the church, they will experience the incarnation of Jesus appearing as Light in this world and revealing the glory of Christ. If it knows that Jesus came to save souls, and He died on the cross for it, mankind should deeply think of the problem of souls of people who are dying of hunger and struggle to solve it.
