본 연구는 초임교사의 부모면담에 대한 어려움을 알아보고, 그들이 제안하는 교사교육의 방향에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해서 서울 및 경기지역에 소재한 사립유치원의 초임교사 7명을 심층 인터뷰하였는데 그 결과 교사들은 부모 면담을 준비하는 과정에서의 어려움과 부모 면담 시의 어려움에 대해서 이야기하였다. 면담을 준비하는 과정이 어려운 이유로는 면담의 지원 체계가 미비하고, 면담을 준비하는 시간이 부족하며, 자료 수집에 있어 어려움을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 부모와 면담을 할 때 어려움을 갖는 이유로는 상호작용 기술의 부족, 유아관련 지식 및 이해의 부족, 교육 경력 및 경험의 부족을 이유로 들었다. 초임교사가 제안하는 예비교사를 위한 교사교육으로는 부모 면담 관련 교과목 개설 및 강화, 실제적인 사례 위주의 교육, 부모 면담 시뮬레이션 교육이었고, 현직 교사를 위한 교사교육으로는 부모 면담의 참관, 구체적인 면담 사례집 개발, 부모 면담에 대한 체계적인 지원과 멘토링을 요구하였다. 본 연구를 통해 부모 면담에 대해 초임교사들이 갖고 있는 어려움과 요구를 보다 깊이 이해할 수 있으며 향후 부모 면담을 위한 교사교육 프로그램 개발의 유용한 기초 자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 본다.
The purpose of the study is to examine 7 beginning preschool teachers in Seoul regarding their views of their preparation for interviewing parents, their practices, beliefs and needs. In-depth interviews were used as the source of qualitative evidence to suggest developed pre service teacher education program regarding parents interviewing. The findings indicate that beginning teachers have difficulty in communicating effectively with parents, having enough knowledge in child development and dealing with various problem behaviors of children in classrooms. The beginning teachers ask to examine curricula and materials in use during pre service teacher education program to develop more specific case study, parents- teacher interactions analysis, small grouping discussions, evaluative strategies and role-playing. Finally, the beginning teachers said that teachers who were prepared well in teacher education program could felt significantly better prepared across most dimension of parents counseling process than those who does not.
