본 연구는 보육교사들이 현장에서 경험한 윤리적 딜레마들을 수집하여 이에 내포된 윤리덕목들을 돌봄의 관점에서 분석해보기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구의 참여자는 2008년 4월부터 6월까지 설문조사에 응한 총 50명의 보육교사들이다. 본 연구에서 사용된 설문지는 NAEYC의 유아교사를 위한 윤리강령과 행동선언문(2005년 개정)의 내용영역을 토대로 유아교육전문가와의 협의를 통해 수정․보완하여 구성한 것이다. 설문응답 자료에 대한 질적 분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 보육교사들은 영유아와의 관계에서 그들을 교육 및 지도할 때 ‘배려와 존중에 근거한 돌봄 윤리’를 선택할지, 아니면 ‘공정성에 근거한 정의 윤리’를 선택할지 갈등하였다. 둘째, 보육교사들은 가정과의 관계에서 ‘가정과의 협력과 연계에 근거한 돌봄 윤리’를 선택할지, 아니면 ‘수용에 기초한 조화 윤리’를 선택할지 갈등하였다. 셋째, 보육교사들은 동료 및 기관과의 관계에서 ‘도전에 근거한 돌봄 윤리’를 선택할지, 아니면 ‘예의, 의리에 기초한 순응 윤리’를 선택할지 갈등하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 보육교사의 딜레마 사례들은 돌봄의 관점을 토대로 한 교직윤리관련 교사교육 및 윤리강령 제정의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the ethical virtues involved in ethical dilemmas which child care teachers experienced in the field of education reviewed with the aspect of care. The participants were 50 child care teachers who responded to the study's questionnaire from April to June 2008. This questionnaire was constructed by an early childhood education specialist and a researcher based on the NAEYC(2005)'s revised code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment. Analysis of the questionnaire yielded the following. First, teachers experienced conflicts in the relationships with children when they taught and guided children. That was to select the ethics of care based on consideration and respect or choose the ethics of justice based on fairness. Second, teachers experienced conflicts in the relationships with children's families. That was to select the ethics of care based on cooperation and connection with children's families or choose the ethics of harmony based on acceptation. Third, teachers experienced the conflicts in the relationships with colleagues and the directors of child care centers. That was to select the ethics of care based on challenge or choose the ethics of adaptation based on courtesy. In conclusion, the examples of child care teachers' ethical dilemmas would be utilized as the basic materials for teacher education related with teaching ethics and for enacting of the code of ethics on the basis of the aspect of care.
