본 연구는 영재판별에서 가장 기초가 되는 지능검사를 좀 더 효율적으로 사용해 보고자 하는 목적에서 출발하여 다른 특성을 기반으로 제작된 K-WISC-Ⅲ와 K-RPM 두 검사의 영재판별과의 관련성을 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 영재학생 41명과 일반학생 41명을 표집하고 이들의 K-WISC Ⅲ와 K-RPM 점수를 수집하였다. 연구결과 K-WISC-Ⅲ와 K-RPM 두 지능검사 점수간에는 .557(p<.01)의 상관이 나타났으며, K-WISC-Ⅲ의 12개 하위 요인 중에 7개의 요인이 K-RPM과 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 토막 짜기 요인이 가장 높은 상관 정도인 .537(p<.01)로 나타났고 상식 요인이 .297(p<.01)로 가장 낮게 나타났다. K-RPM 검사 점수를 70%ile 이상을 받게 되면 K-WISC-Ⅲ에서 지능지수 125 이상을 획득하여 영재로 판별 될 가능성이 가장 높아짐이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 K-RPM을 활용하여 연구 결과로 제시된 일정 수준(70%ile) 이상의 후보자를 선별한 후 K-WISC-Ⅲ를 통해 영재를 판별한다면 조금 더 효율적인 영재 판별이 가능해 질 것이다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between K-WISC-III (Korean-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition) and K-RPM (Korean Raven Progressive Matrices) and further find better ways to make the most of the existing intelligence tests for the identification of gifted children. This study included a total of 81 children who visited the Gifted Education Resource Institute of a university in Chungchungnam-do in the 2007 school year. K-WISC-III and K-RPM were used for the identification of gifted children and 41 of those tested were identified as gifted. The results shows that the correlation between K-WISC-III and K-RPM was .557, significant in the whole group tested, and correlation between factors was significant by 1% in 7 factors out of 12. Second, the correlation between K-WISC-III and K-RPM in gifted group was not significant, but the correlation between factors was significant only in comprehensions.
