정보화시대라 불리는 현대사회에서는 법학자나 법률가에 있어서 법률정보를 검색하고 분석하는 능력은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않을 것이다. 그러나 우리나라에서는 아직까지 ‘법정보조사’에 관한 관심도 적었을 뿐 아니라 이에 관한 교육은 거의 이루어지지 않고 있었다. 2009.3.부터 새로운 법조양성제도인 법학전문대학원은 이러한 점을 감안하여 ‘법정보조사’교육을 필수과목으로 지정하도록 하고 있지만, 지금까지 관심조차도 없었던 법정보조사에 관한 교육을 어떻게 해야 할 것인지에 대하여 분석한 문헌은 거의 없는 실정이다. 본고는 우리보다 로스쿨제도를 먼저 도입한 일본의 경우와 로스쿨 제도의 원류인 미국에 있어서의 리갈 리서치에 대한 교육현황을 개괄적으로 살펴봄으로써, 우리나라의 법학전문대학원의 ‘법정보조사’교육을 어떻게 할 것인가에 관한 필요한 자료를 제공하고 있다. 특히 미국의 존․마샬 로스쿨의 리갈 리서치 교육에 관하여 살펴보고 있으며, 법학도서관의 역할의 중요성을 강조함과 함께 법학전문사서 양성의 필요성을 제시하고 있다.


The ability of a jurist or a legal professional to research and analyze law information can't be overemphasized. However, not much attention is paid to the Legal Research, Writing and Analysis but also the related education is not provided enough in Korea. Although law schools as the new system in legal education since March, 2009 considering that situation, mentioned above, have the compulsory curriculum for the education of Legal Research, Writing and Analysis, there is little literature that analyzes how to educate the curriculum. For that reason, this article provides how to teach the 'Legal Research, Writing and Analysis' by studying the case of Japan that has introduced law schools earlier than Korea, and the case of America that has the origin of law schools. This article is characterized by studying Legal Research program in The John Marshall Law School especially.
