이 연구에서는 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 관련 변인들 간에 어떠한 관계가 있는지 검토해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 부모지원과 학업성취간의 관계에서 자아존중감과 학교적응을 매개변인으로 설정하여 학업성취 관련변인들 간의 구조적 관계성을 살펴보았다. 이 연구에서는 서울 및 지방의 중․고등학교에 재학 중인 총 438명(남: 188명, 여: 250)의 학생을 조사대상으로 하였다. 이 연구에서 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모의 지원은 자아존중감 및 학교적응과의 관계에서 높은 정적 상관관계를 나타냈으며, 학업성취와의 관계에서도 정적 관계가 나타났다. 자아존중감도 학교적응 및 학업성취도와 정적관계가 있었으며, 학교적응과 학업성취도간의 관계에서도 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부모지원과 학교적응과의 관계에서 자아존중감이 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감과 학업성취간의 관계에서도 학교적응이 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학업성취 관련변인들인 부모지원, 자아존중감 및 학교적응과 학업성취간의 구조적 관계를 분석한 결과 부모지원은 자아존중감과 학교적응을 매개로 하여 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 부모지원이 학교적응으로 가는 경로나 부모지원이 직접 학업성취로 가는 경로가 유의하지 않게 나타나 완전매개모형이 자료에 더 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 시사점과 추후 연구에 대해 제안하였다.
This study tried to find out what relationship is among parents' support, self esteem and school adjustment on students' academic achievement. For this purpose, setting the adolescent's self esteem and his/her school adjustment as mediators in the relationship of parents' support and academic achievement This study surveyed total 438 students(male: 188, female: 250) in attending middle and high schools located in Seoul and some provinces. The result of study is as follows. First, the parents' support showed high positive correlation in the relationship with the self esteem and the school adjustment. The factor also showed high correlation in the relationship with the academic achievement. The self esteem had correlations with the school adjustment and the academic achievement, respectively. The school adjustment's relationship with the academic achievement was appeared to have some positive correlation. Second, in the relationship of parents' support and school adjustment, the self esteem took the role as a mediator. For the relationship of self esteem and academic achievement, the school adjustment carried out the role of mediator. It was found that the parents' support influenced on students' academic achievement by using the self esteem and the school adjustment as its mediators.
