The purpose of this study is to analyse the  colonization and the escape from colonization of everyday life, i.e. the totalitarian control of the country, in North Korea, focusing on the life of women. Since 1945 North Koreas regime has transformed everyday life to developed socialist consciousness in life. Everyday life became completely and nation wide controlled. Control appeared as material and social control as well as control of labour life. But North Koreas did not always follow or obey. Especially, since the economic crisis there have been numerous instances of discontent challenging national control. And the increasing number of women in the informal sector of the economy strengthened womens productive activity in North Korea. Women learned to survive under the harsh living conditions and became survival specialists. In this process women developed capabilities which helped them, ultimately, to escape colonization of everyday life in North Korea, becoming leaders of change of the former totalitarian system
