본고는 弘齋全書에 수록된 弘齋의 詩작품을 토대로 하여 그의 詩세계를 고찰한 논문이다. 본고에서는 홍재가 18세기 후반의 한 시대를 통치했던 帝王으로서 당대의 文風을 주도했을 뿐만 아니라, 임금이 아닌 학자로 그 누구와 견주더라도 손색이 없을 만큼 방대한 文集을 남겼으며 學德을 지녔음에 주목하였다. 또한 그의 내면세계를 엿볼 수 있는 작품연구가 아직 본격적으로 이루어지지 않았다는 점을 문제로 인식하는 데에서 이 연구가 시도되었다.본고에서는 우선 홍재가 詩를 인식하고 있는 詩觀은 어떤 것인가를 먼저 살펴보고, 그리고 홍재전서에 수록되어 있는 343題 430餘 首에 달하는 이 시작품을 토대로 하여 동궁시기와 재위기간의 시기별로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 그 결과 帝王의 雄渾한 氣象이 내재되어 있음을 인식할 수 있었으며, 宏博한 學識이 충만함을 엿볼 수 있었다.따라서 이 연구는, 한 시대의 政治와 文風을 주도했던 홍재의 시작품에 대하여 다소간의 이해를 하게 되었다는 점과 그의 작품세계에 대한 본격적인 연구의 한 단초를 마련하게 되었다는 점에 있어서 일정한 의의를 갖는다.
This thesis is studying on Hong-jae(弘齋: The 22th King of Cho-sun dynasty)'s poetic world by examining his poets collected in Hong jae jun seo. Former studies have focused on him as a ruler. As a result, many of researcher are passed over his literary position comparatively. Many results from the vary points such as politics, economics and history are accomplished on him about the era and his achievements. In connection with them, any regularized study about Hong-jae's inner world through his literary works is not reported yet. This thesis is started recognizing this problem. I pointed that Hong-jae was a man both a ruler who ruled Cho-sun during late 18th century and a academical person who composed a huge anthology. His Works were huge even though comparing with other scholars in his time and he was a man with learning and virtue. I believe that he led literary trends of the time. Now I have analyzed his about 430 poetic works collected in Hong jae jun seo from the points of each era and pattern. I recognize that his works inherent his grand sprit and wide knowledge in results. This study has a meaning what is first study to clear up the poetic sprit and the King who ruled his nation and led literary trends and theme consciousness.
