『萬物類聚』는 安鼎福이 편찬한 일종의 類書이다. 그러나 완전한 체계가 갖추어져 있지 않고, 편찬 의도와 시기를 밝힐 수 있는 자료가 거의 없지만 대략 1751년 이후에 편찬된 것으로 추정할 수 있다. 이 책은 건곤 2책으로 구성되어 있는데 건권은 「天道類」․「地理類」․「動植類」이고, 곤권은 「臣道門」․「秋官門」․「冬官門」이다. 건권은 ‘類’로 분류하고 곤권은 ‘門’으로 분류하여 건권과 곤권의 분류 방식에 차이가 있다. 건권은 천지만물에 해당하는 박물학적 유서의 성격을 지니고 있지만 곤권은 주로 전장제도나 인사 등 유교적 질서나 윤리에 관한 항목을 기록하고 있다. 본문 중에 우리나라와 관련된 항목이 포함되어 있고, 안정복이 우리나라의 문헌을 반영한 『文獻通考』나 『事文類聚』 같은 책의 편찬 필요성을 표명한 일이 있기 때문에 저술목록 중의 『동국사문유취』로 추정될 가능성이 없지 않다. 그러나 건권과 곤권이 큰 범주에서는 유사할 수 있어도 그 내용상 성격을 달리하기 때문에 『동국사문유취』와 『만물유취』가 같은 책인지에 대해서는 의문의 여지가 있다. 또 과연 건권과 곤권이 동일한 책인지에 대해서도 더 많은 고찰이 필요한 부분이 있다. 안정복은 자신의 견해를 따로 표기하지 밝히지 않았지만 내용을 살펴보면 자신의 의견으로 의심되는 구절이 뒤섞여 있으며, 발췌한 인용 출전 문헌은 본문에서 직접 밝히고 있거나 간접적으로 확인되는 것을 제외하고는 나머지 대부분은 정확히 특정하기 어렵다. 또한 당시 유행하던 서구 학문이나 과학기술, 종교에 대한 기사 인용이 단 한 곳에서도 발견되지 않았다. 이것은 안정복의 학문적 지향이나 학문태도와 어느 정도 연관이 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다.
Manmulryuchwi(萬物類聚) is Pre-modern Encyclopedic Taxonomies of Writings(類書) which AnChŏngbok(安鼎福, 1712-1791) has been compiled. But this book was not equipped with a system. There is little material capable of revealing the compilation time. It is not possible to know the intention of compilation without preface and publishing records. If we are based on some of the article can be presumed to have been compiled since about 1751. This book was composed of two books GeonGon(乾坤). Geon was classified into Cheondoryu(天道類)․Jidoryu(地理類)․Dongsikryu(動植類), Gon was classified into Sindomun(臣道門)․Chugwanmun(秋官門)․Dong-gwanmun (冬官門). There is a difference in the classification method of two books GeonGon. Geon includes the features of the Natural history(博物學) related to natural phenomena. However, Gon was mainly recorded the items related to Confucian order and ethics such as systems and personnel. In the body of this book, were included items related to Chosun(朝鮮). AnChŏng-bok was expressed that there is a need to have books that reflect the literature of Chosun is compiled. Therefore Manmulryuchwi(萬物類聚) is likely to be estimated and Dogkuksamunryuchwi(東國事文類聚) contained in the work list. May be similar in the two books on broad categories. However, both of this for a feature on the content is different, to see in the same book there is room for doubt. AnChŏngbok was not to reveal his opinion, he did not separately also notation. However, the contents of the book, are mixed sentences that have been speculated that opinion of AnChŏngbok. Also, at that time the epidemic was Western Europe of academic and science and technology and religion of the article cited is not detected at all. This is quite closely related to his academic- oriented and academic attitude. Therefore, studies for this is a subject to be future continued.
