The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between preschool children's playfulness and their creative characteristics in half-day programs and full-day programs. The subjects included 286 preschool children, composed of 133 half-day program children and 153 full-day program children. The collected data were analyzed by using a t-test,Pearson's-r correlation, and multiple regression. The major results of this study were as follows: First, half-day program children showed a higher level of playfulness than full-day program children. Second, half-day program children showed higher creative characteristics than full-day program children. Third, there were significant correlations between children's playfulness and creative characteristics in both the half-day and full-day programs. In the half-day program, social spontaneity and children's humor were predictable variables of children's creative characteristics. In the full-day program, children's humor and cognitive spontaneity were predictors of children's leadership.
