본 연구는 유아교사들이 자유선택활동을 계획하고 실행하는 과정에서 느끼는 공통적 어려움과 갈등, 그리고 각 기관에 적용된 프로그램의 특징에 따라 서로 다르게 나타나는 교사의 어려움과 갈등을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 부산과 경남 지역의 유아교육기관에서 근무하는 교사 10인을 대상으로 각 2회씩, 총 20회의 면담을 실시한 자료를 중심으로 결과를 분석하였다. 유아교사들은 자유선택활동 계획의 과정에서 자신의 전문성 부족을 이유로 갈등을 느끼고 있었으며, 실행의 과정에서 자유선택활동의 실행을 충분히 뒷받침해주지 못하는 시간과 환경의 상황 때문에 갈등을 경험하고 있었으나, 각자 자신이 적용하고 있는 프로그램의 가장 핵심적인 특징에 대해서는 명확하게 이해하고 있음을 알 수 있었고 서로 다른 프로그램의 특징에도 불구하고 자유선택활동의 교육적 효과에 대해서는 믿음을 갖고 있다고 응답하였다.
This study aimed to describe early childhood teacher's conflict for managing free-play activities. Ten early childhood teachers, five from kindergarten and 5 from daycare center were interviewed to gather data. The research findings are as follows: 1) Early childhood teachers had a lot of difficulties during free-play activity time because of lack of knowledge for teaching. 2) Early childhood teachers had a lot of difficulties during free-play activity time because of time and space problems. 3) Early childhood teachers had at least main ideas about their educational program.
