This paper aims to research ethics for reading novels and practical directions in novel education. To achieve this, this paper analyses Kim Hyun's literary theory and novel criticism. First of all, I examine narrative theories on ethics for reading novels and get suggestions for this study. According to these, I research ethical structure of reading novels and suggest three ethical values that readers should practice. To put it concretely, reader's self-esteem means that readers should be interested in the good life and reflect on matters of life by reading a novel. Mutual caring with an author means that readers should listen with respectful attention to author`s appeal and answer that. Justice in interpretive community means that readers should coevolve narrative communication by taking part in meaning negotiation with other readers. Learners need to personalize ethics of reading novels in novel education. For this, I propose three practical directions, or more specifically, methods and ethics-integrated educational contents, ethics experience-focused educational method and teacher's role as the model for reading a novel ethically.
